  • We reserve the right to refuse hire for any reason.
  • Additional restrictions to those stated below may be imposed by us or our insurer. 
  • All motorcycles are offered for hire with comprehensive insurance. Terms may vary from bike to bike and rider to rider.
  • All of our motorcycles require a Full (UK/EU A) motorcycle license.
  • We do not hire motorcycles for use in any competition, rally, trial, track day, motocross, enduro events, performance test etc.
  • Hires must provide an image of their full driving licence prior to acceptance of the hire and present the actual livense together with additional identification at collection.
  • UK License holders must provide additional proof of identification. Acceptable terms will be agreed prior to the hire.
  • Foreign nationals will be required to provide passport and evidence of where they are staying whilst in the UK.
  • All driving offences must be declared prior to rental. Some offences may be unacceptable with our insurers, if in doubt please check at time of booking, and if added between booking and time of hire, double check. Failure to advise us in advance may result in our refusal to hire.
  • Licences issued by the UK any EU country, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA will generally be automatically accepted. Those with licenses isued by other nations will require to be individually accessed by our insurer.
  • Riders aged over 23 and under 25 will require prior approval from our insurer and will be subject to a higher excess in the event of a claim.
  • Solo hirers, aged over 25 and under 80 years, who have at least two years recent riding experience on a motorcycle of similar power to the one being hired, will generally be accepted.
  • Riders between 35 and 70 year of age, who are carying a pillion, and have at least three years recent riding experience on a motorcycle of similar power to the one being hired, are generally accepted.
  • Hirers must ensure they have requested the correct dates, pick up and drop off times at the time of reservation because although we will do our best to help if you have made an error we cannot accept responsibility if your preferred bike is not available at the amended date or time.
  • A reservation fee equivillent to the cost of a one day hire will be charged per motorcycle at time of booking. The fee is deducted from the total hire cost but in the event of cancellation may be forfeit.
  • The minimum hire is one day (a period of 24 hours or less). Hirers may uplift and return it at any time during our regular business hours 09:00 to 17:00 Tuesday to Saturday. If the motorcycle is not collected and returned during regular business hours a discretionary fee may be added.
  • Hires for fewer than 7 days will be requested to pay in full at time of booking.
  • In the event of an accident or rider error, e.g. lost keys, wrong fuel etc., our breakdown cover will assist you; however, you will be responsible and charged accordingly for repairs, loss, damage, relay and recovery.
  • A security deposit of between £2,000 and £2,500 (depending on the bike hired and your personal status) is usually required. The deposit will be refunded when vehicle is returned undamaged. Payment is taken via pre-payment authorisation against a debit or credit card. These funds are reserved by your bank in case of any damage, theft or charges incurred whilst the bike is in your possession including extended rental periods, damage, late charges, fuel refills, mileage fees, punctures or unpaid penalty charges.
  • In the event of an accident during your hire, should the motorbike become unusable, we cannot guarantee to offer replacement bike and no refund will be granted on the remaining period of rent.
  • If bikes are returned dirty, a full inspection cannot be made until the bike has been cleaned. It may not possible to immediately clean the bike or while you wait.
  • A complete set of terms and conditions specific to each hire will be presented to each hirer in advance of the hire. These terms may impose different conditions to those outlined above and should be read fully before acceptance. The example below is therefore for indicative purposes only.

Example Motorcycle Hire Agreement

  1. Us, we, our, etc refers to McTours Ltd. You, your, etc refers to the Renter named in Section 2 below.

      At Added Cost: Garmin Zumo GPS (£40 flat fee), Helmets (£25 each), Helmet with Intercom (£50 each), Protective Riding Gear: Jacket, Trousers, Gloves, Boots and Waterproofs (£25 each item).
    2. Commences: at or after Time on Date
    3. Ends: at or before Time on Date
    4. The vehicle may be delivered to you before or uplifted after the hire period, but to ensure insurance cover it must not be used by you outside the hire duration.
  4. Hire Price: £1234 plus £0.30 per mile in excess of 0 miles.

    1. On acceptance of this agreement, you will pay a reservation fee of £350. This fee is non‑refundable, but in the event of cancellation:
      1. Up to 90 days prior to hire, a full refund less any bank charges or credit card fees incurred, subject to a minimum charge of £350.
      2. From 89 to 29 days prior to hire, 75% of your funds may be transferred to an alternative hire (subject to availability) and must be used within 12 months.
      3. From 28 days prior to hire, the entire payment is forfeit.
    2. If the hire is less than 28 days from reservation date, payment is due in full.
    3. The £896 balance will be due 28 days prior to hire.
    4. Late returns must be advised in advance and are subject to a discretionary fee of up to 150% of the daily rate.
  5. You must provide an update of your full driving license produced not more than 48 hours prior to the commencement of hire. All driving offences and at‑fault accidents must be declared. Failure to advise us may result in refusal to hire.
  6. Non‑UK residents must also provide a copy of their passport and travel details.
  7. We are not responsible for accidents, mishaps or personal injuries. You are wholly responsible for the vehicle during the hire period.

    The vehicle is fitted with a tracking device. In the event of theft, you must contact us immediately. Failure to do so, or incidents resulting in total loss, may result in liability for the reinstatement value. Otherwise, damage liability is limited to £2000.
    1. A security deposit of £2000 will be held. For hires up to seven days this is a pre‑authorisation; longer hires may result in the deposit being drawn. Exchange‑rate fluctuations may affect returned amounts.
    2. The deposit covers damage, theft, mileage, late charges, fuel refills, punctures, and penalty charges.
    3. Repairs must be carried out only by our authorised repairers.
  8. All penalties, fines, tolls and charges are the hirer’s responsibility. A £25 administration fee applies for each penalty we process.
  9. We or our insurer may refuse hire for any reason. If refused, a full refund will be issued within two working days.
  10. Use of the vehicle for off‑road riding, competitions, rallies, track days or similar activities is strictly forbidden. Dangerous or abusive usage may result in immediate termination of hire.
  11. You must ensure the correct dates and times are requested at reservation.
    1. We will attempt to assist date changes, but availability is not guaranteed.
    2. Additional charges may apply for changes.
  12. In the event of breakdown, accident or rider error, breakdown cover applies, but repair and recovery costs may be chargeable.
    1. Recovery from remote areas may take time. Vehicles taken off the UK mainland must be repatriated by the hirer.
    2. Replacement vehicles are not guaranteed and no refunds apply for unused hire time.
  13. If the vehicle is returned dirty, inspection will occur after cleaning, which may not be immediate.
  14. This agreement is signed in Scotland. The Scottish Courts shall have jurisdiction in any legal dispute.
